Who I am

My name is Bart Jay Robey and I am running for District 85 of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Our district covers a large area of Northwest Oklahoma City and I am proud to call it my home.

I was born here, raised here, and went to school here. I graduated from Casady School in 1996.

After high school I traveled to Washington, D.C. where I attended college at American University and received my legal education from The George Washington University Law School. In 2003, and with the hope of making a difference in my home state, I returned to Oklahoma where I began private practice. I am now an attorney with the law firm of Smith, Rhodes, Stewart & Elder. My career has been devoted to defending Oklahoma’s companies, physicians, and the citizens.

In the fall of 2002, I had the wonderful fortune of being introduced to my wife Shawnae. We were married in October of 2005 and now reside in Crown Heights. Shawnae, who is also an attorney, is an Associate General Counsel for the University of Oklahoma.

In my spare time I enjoy being with my family and friends and working to improve my neighborhood on the Crown Heights-Edgemere Heights Home Owners Association Board.

Why I am running

I am running for House District 85 because I believe that Northwest Oklahoma City deserves energetic and proactive leadership. For too long the old game of "politics as usual" has diminished our choices for public office and resulted in providing our people with representatives who prove to be little more than a rubber stamp for the political parties to whom they are bound. This divisive game focuses on playing upon our differences as opposed to what we achieve when we work together.

Our campaign is one of change. I seek to actively represent all individuals of House District 85 and their interests. In a large and growing metropolitan area such Oklahoma City, our District requires a representative who can provide new ideas, flexibility, and spirited leadership. I believe I can offer our District these very qualities and ideals.
